Library Instruction and Research Guides

I am available for library instruction sessions (in-person or virtual) which can be customized to the needs of the students and assignments. This might include a general introduction to library resources or a more specific focus on library databases and tools.

Workshops and Events

The library offers a number of workshops on a variety of topics including citation managers, databases, resources, data, privacy, local information and others.

Teaching and Research

The library provides assistance and support for Readings Lists and Reserves

At Rutgers University Libraries, we’re excited to support your teaching by offering a robust Course Reserve service designed to give your students easy, equitable access to the materials they need to succeed. When you submit reserve requests, our team gets to work right away to make course content available as quickly as possible. As part of our commitment to digital accessibility and ADA Title II compliance, all materials made available through Course Reserves are reviewed to ensure they are compliant with ADA Title II accessibility standards. This means your students receive content that is usable, inclusive, and ready to go on day one. If you need items that aren’t yet part of our collections, we’re happy to help. We’ll work to purchase or license the material—prioritizing streaming and electronic formats when available and acquiring physical items when necessary, all in alignment with our collection development policy
The earlier you submit your requests, the better we can ensure everything is available when you and your students need it. If you already know which materials you’ll be using, why wait? Request them today: Reserves- https://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/teaching-support/reading-lists-and-reserves/request-reserves  Collection- https://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/find-borrow/recommend-purchase

OAT, Open and Affordable Textbooks Program: Through OAT, the Libraries award research funds ($2500) to Rutgers faculty who redesign their courses to use free or low-cost materials or who create a new open textbook. Details can be found at this link.

We continue to add to a growing list of open access publishing opportunities with agreements that waive the APCs.

Artificial Intelligence

The library has research guides on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. I take a critical approach to Generative AI and do not work with any AI products, I provide workshops and instruction on how and why to avoid generative AI. The library however does provides support for AI in different ways, please contact me with any questions and I will refer you to the appropriate librarian.

Technology lending continues to expand. Check out our guide to learn more about borrowing calculators, charging cables, microphones and more!
